CINCINNATI -- The Xavier tennis teams played an Atlantic 10 double header Friday night at the Eastern Hills Tennis Center and both the Musketeer men and women came out with a conference win over St. Bonaventure. The XU women dominated the Bonnies for a 7-0 victory Friday.
"We played a very good match this evening," said XU women's assistant coach Rudy Vliegenberg. "I feel that St. Bonaventure has made some improvements over last year and to compete tonight without losing a match speaks to how well we performed tonight."
Xavier swept all matches in the contest with the sister duo of Katie Pleiman and Christie Pleiman earning an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, while the duo of Jill Ducro and Kaitlyn Zinn moved to No. 3 for an 8-0 victory.
In singles play the Musketeers continued their dominance. However, the Bonnies would not give up without a fight, and took two singles matches to three sets.
At No. 2 singles Tifanie Treece defeated Maria Brousse 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 and in the No. 4 match, Zinn posted an identical score against Amanda Pallikunnel.
With the win, the Musketeers improve to 9-7 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the Atlantic 10. Xavier returns to action March 26 to host Saint Louis in A-10 action.
