PHILADELPHIA, PA. – The Xavier women’s tennis team dropped its match at conference foe Temple Saturday evening 6-1. This was the first conference loss for the Musketeers this season. Xavier falls to 10-4 on the year and 3-1 in conference action.
Xavier started the match off strong earning the doubles point. The duo of sophomore Allyson Westling and junior Kally Alkire narrowly won at the No. 1 (9-8(3)). Sophomore Andrea Wolf and freshman Daniella Patton defeated their opponents 8-5.
“We came out strong in the doubles and took a very difficult first point. Temple rebounded well and came out strong in singles. We competed well but in the end it was just not enough today. Temple is one of the best teams in the Atlantic 10 and they showed it today. We hope to get better from this loss moving forward,” said assistant coach Doug Matthews.
The Musketeers return to action as they travel to Louisville Friday, March 23. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
