HONOLULU - Freshman Alex Brinker improved her singles winning-streak to nine and was the lone victor for the Xavier women's tennis team which dropped a 6-1 to 40th-ranked San Diego State.
The Musketeers (7-4) dropped their match against the Aztecs to close out their spring break trip to Hawaii.
Brinker defeated Alicia Aguilar 6-1, 7-5 at the No. 2 singles spot making the Xavier rookie 10-1 on the season. Her only loss came to the 62nd-ranked Rebecca Shine of Louisville on Jan. 20.
Xavier dropped all five of its other singles match and also dropped the doubles point to begin the match. Freshman Caitlin Lawless made her first appearance of the spring and lost a spirited two-set match (7-5, 6-4) at the No. 6 singles position.
The Musketeers will kick off a stretch of several home matches in March this weekend when it hosts Massachusetts on Friday and IUPUI on Saturday. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. and will be played at the Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Complex.
