Women's Tennis Sweeps St. Joseph's On The Road

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Xavier's women's tennis team swept St. Joseph's, 7-0, on the road to improve their record to 3-2.
No singles match went more than two sets for the Musketeers. The first singles victory came from Cristina Di Lorenzo who defeated Devi Jadeja, 6-3, 6-1. Daniella Patton and Sydney Liggins followed Di Lorenzo's start by winning their matches, 6-4, 6-1 and 7-5 7-6 (4), respectively. Alex Brinker defeated Aurora Davis, 7-5, 6-4, in the No. 1 spot. Finally, rounding out singles competition was Andrea Wolf defeating Laruen Roy, 6-1, 6-3, and Lizzie Oosterbaan defeating Alex Zachem ,7-4 (4), 6-2.
Allyson Westling and Wolf shut out Kelly Mulquin and Jadeja, 8-0, while Patton and Di Lorenzo took care of business in the No. 2 position beating Kristina Eisenbland and Roy, 8-2. Brinker and Liggins were leading their match, 7-3, before the doubles point was secured.
Head coach Eric Toth said, "We are very happy with tonight's performance. We were sharp in doubles and really played well when sets and matches were on the line in singles. This team continues to compete exceptionally well which make their coaches most excited as we continue our season."
The Musketeers will remain in Philadelphia to take on the Temple Owls (2-1) on Feb. 15, 2014. The match will be played at Legacy Tennis Youth and Education with first serve at 4 p.m.
