Freshman Lizzie Oosterbaan wins 6-0, 6-0 in singles play.

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – The Xavier women’s tennis team rebounded from a tough loss Friday night to sweep Youngstown State 7-0 on Saturday evening. The Musketeers moved to 3-3 on the season.
Xavier easily won the point for the doubles matches. Juniors Katie Pleiman and Kally Alkire blanked their opponents 8-0 while sophomore Allyson Westling and freshman Daniella Patton dominated their competition 8-1. Freshman Lizzie Oosterbaan and sophomore Andrea Wolf won by default.
Every Musketeer was successful in her singles match. In the No. 5 singles match Oosterbaan defeated her opponent (6-0, 6-0). Wolf won (6-1, 6-0) and Alkire succeeded at (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively. Also contributing to the sweep were Pleiman (6-2, 6-3), Patton (7-6(5), 6-4) and Westling won by default.
“I’m really proud of our girls. Last night was our toughest loss of the season and we regrouped and played our best match tonight. We started the doubles well and kept the pressure on the entire match.” said assistant coach Doug Matthews.
Xavier returns to action with a home match against Butler Wednesday, February 15. The match will take place at the Mercy Healthplex. The first serve is set for 1 p.m.
