Heedum Earns National Honor, Nominated For Youth Coach Of The Year

CINCINNATI -- Xavier women's soccer assistant coach and former Xavier standout Keri Heedum earned another coaching honor, being named the 2011 US Youth Soccer Coach of the Year - Girls Competitive Region II. She will have a chance to be named National Youth Soccer Coach of the Year at the US Youth Soccer Workshop on February 17 in Boston, Mass. Heedum, a four-year starter for Xavier, coaches with a local youth soccer club and it was through her time and dedication to youth soccer that she earned the honor. "This is a tremendous accomplishment for Keri," said women's soccer head coach Woody Sherwood. "The opportunity to go to Boston for the chance at National Coach of the Year is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We are extremely lucky to have someone of Keri's ability and character working with us at Xavier." Heedum will attend the National Awards Gala February 17.
