Women's Soccer Team Prepares To Host DePaul In Its Final Home Game

CINCINNATI --- The Xavier University women’s soccer team plays its final home game of the 2013 season on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. The Musketeers host BIG EAST foe DePaul on Senior Day.

Xavier will honor eight seniors before the match: Taylor Dearbaugh (Centerville, Ohio), Sydnee Fields (Fairfield, Ohio),  Ashton Green (Indianapois, Ind.) , Lauren Heap (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), Laura Rao (Madisonville, Ky.), Simone Sterling (Mill Creek, Wash.) , Bridget Tully (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Mariah Whitaker (Zionsville, Ind.).

Xavier, 8-7-1 overall and 1-6 in the BIG EAST Conference, picked up its first BIG EAST win in its last match at the Xavier Soccer Complex, a 2-1 victory over Seton Hall on Oct. 12. XU, which has won the most matches since the nine-win team of 2005, is 5-2 at home this season.

DePaul, 10-3-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the BIG EAST Conference, is coming off a 1-0 loss on Oct. 20 to No. 10 Marquette. DePaul’s BIG EAST wins have come over Seton Hall, Villanova and Butler at home and Creighton on the road. The Blue Demons tied Georgetown 1-1.

Xavier has nine players that have scored at least one goal this season, including four who have scored three goals each:  Senior Mariah Whitaker, freshmen Tori Doss and Maggie Hare and sophomore Catherine Allon. On the defensive side, the Musketeers have shut out seven opponents so far this season. The seven shutouts already ties for the fourth-most shutouts in a season in Xavier history: 11 (2000), 9 (1991 and 1985) and 7 (2011).



Xavier closes out the 2013 season next Saturday at Creighton at 2 p.m. ET.
