Xavier Women Look To Get Into A-10 Hunt At Richmond, GW This Weekend

CINCINNATI -- The Xavier women's soccer team hits the road for another weekend of Atlantic 10 action. The Musketeers will head to Richmond on Friday for a 7 p.m. game followed by a trip up to the nation's capital to face George Washington on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Xavier (5-6-1, 0-3 -0) - The Musketeers suffered a couple of setback last weekend at Fordham and La Salle, but are looking to notch a win this weekend. Senior forward Jessica Brooks, sophomore midfielder Ashton Green and junior midfielder Leslie Boersma have each netted two goals for XU this season, while four other Musketeers have posted at least one goal.

The Musketeers are second in the conference and 17th in the nation in goals against average (0.86). Freshman goalkeeper Katie Markesbery is second in the A-10 in saves (88) and saves per game (7.33) and is fourth in save percentage (.86).

Richmond (9-4-2, 3-1-0) - Friday's opponent Richmond is on a three-game winning streak and picked up two victories last weekend at Temple (3-2) and at Saint Joseph's (2-1). The Spiders's Becca Wann is first in the A-10 and 14th in the nation in points per game (2.13). She also leads the conference and is 12th in the country in goals per game (0.87).

Melissa Pacheco heads up the goalkeeping with 810 minutes and 45 saves. As a team, Richmond is fourth in the A-10 in goals (23) and goals per game (1.53) and second in assists (27).

George Washington (4-8-2, 1-1-2) - The Colonials host the Musketeers on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mount Vernon Field. George Washington came away with a tie at Saint Joseph's (0-0) last weekend and dropped a game at Temple (1-0). GW is first in the conference in saves with 100 (7.14/g).

Goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe leads the A-10 in saves (90) and saves per game (7.50/g). Rowe's total saves ranks 12th in the nation. Sierra Smidinger and Adriana Moya head up the goal scoring with four and three goals on the season respectively. Five other Colonials have also been a part of the scoring this season.
