Musketeer Women's Soccer Team Hosts Seton Hall On Saturday Afternoon

CINCINNATI --- The Xavier women’s soccer team hosts Seton Hall on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Xavier Soccer Complex. The match is the first game of a doubleheader with the men’s team, which will play Georgetown at 7 p.m.

Xavier, 7-5-1 overall and 0-4 in the BIG EAST Conference, is coming off a 3-0 loss to Marquette last Sunday at the Xavier Soccer Complex. The Musketeers are trying to snap a four-match losing streak.

Seton Hall, 4-7-2 overall and 2-2 in the BIG EAST Conference, lost in overtime at DePaul on Oct. 3, 1-0, and lost at home against Creighton on Oct. 6, 1-0. The Pirates’ two BIG EAST wins have come over Providence (1-0) and Butler (3-1).

Saturday’s match is the last of three straight BIG EAST matches for the Xavier women at the Xavier Soccer Complex. XU has enjoyed a 4-2 home record so far this season.

Junior goalkeeper and tri-captain Katie Markesbery has helped Xavier record six of its seven shutouts. Markesbery is tied for the BIG EAST lead in complete shutouts with five. She leads the BIG EAST in saves per match at 5.83 per match.

After this Saturday, Xavier’s next two matches will be on the road at Providence on Oct. 17 and at Butler on Oct. 20.
