CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's soccer team will close out its three-game homestand Wednesday with a mid-week match-up against Eastern Kentucky. Kickoff between the Musketeers and Colonels is set for 7 p.m. at Xavier Soccer Complex.

Green's Golden Goal Lifts XU To 1-0 Win Over EKU
With a `golden goal' in the 108th minute, sophomore Ashton Green lifted the Musketeers to a 1-0 victory over Eastern Kentucky Friday evening at the XU Soccer Complex.

About the Musketeers
Xavier (4-4-0, 0-0-0 A-10) returned to .500 for the season after picking up a 2-1, come-from-behind win over visiting Morehead State Sunday evening at XU Soccer Complex. The Musketeers are 3-1 over their last four games and 2-0 in their last two road contests. XU is led by junior Mariah Whitaker with six points (2g, 2a - t-8th) and sophomore Margaret Woods who also has two scores on the year. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Markesbery has recorded four wins on the season, including two shutouts on the road. She has tallied 41 saves (2nd A-10) and holds a 1.89 GAA.

Scouting Eastern Kentucky
Eastern Kentucky (3-3-1) got its first road win of the season at College of Charleston, 3-1, on Sunday. The Colonels are 1-3 in away or neutral site matches this season. EKU is led offensively by Nikki Donnelly with three goals, one assist and a team-high 14 shots on the year. Kaylynn Brown has scored twice for Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels have depended solely on Erika Wolfer in goal this season as she has played all 652:16 minutes. Wolfer’s GAA stands at 1.38 and she has collected 24 saves.



Last Time Out
The Musketeers claimed a 2-1, come-from-behind win over Morehead State Sunday in the second contest of their three-game homestand. Sophomore Margaret Woods scored the equalizer in the 39th minute and was assisted by classmate Alyssa Tindal. Freshman Erin McGauley netted the game
winner for XU, her first collegiate goal, unassisted after beating her defender right outside the 18-yard box. Sophomore keeper Katie Markesbery came away with her fourth win of the season after tallying four saves to one goal against.
