The Xavier University women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season in emphatic fashion with a 5-1 victory over Oral Roberts on Sunday on the final day of the Oklahoma State Tournament. Xavier used a balanced scoring attack as five different players scored today and five other players recorded at least one assist.

The Xavier captains led the way early in today's victory. Xavier jumped out quickly as tri-captain Allison Osborne scored just 7:54 into the match. She was set up on the play with assists from Ali Nellis and fellow tri-captain Jillian Chuck. XU added a second goal at 36:39 as the third of XU's tri-captains, Karin Martini, scored off an assist from Sara Schmidt. XU led 2-0 at halftime.

Oral Roberts cut the Xavier lead in half less than a minute into the second half with a goal at 45:42. XU answered at 52:45 as Carlyanne Wenzel found the back of the net off a second assist of the game from Schmidt. XU led 3-1 and never looked back.

Xavier added a pair of insurance goals to solidify the final. Melissa Zimmerman scored off a feed from Brittany Green at 68:54 and Shannon Chambers scored off a pass from Kaitlyn McGoldrick at 86:30 to close out the day's scoring.

The five goals by Xavier were the most by a Xavier team since XU defeated Temple 6-2 on September 30, 2005.

XU raised its record to 1-4 with the win, while ORU fell to 1-3 with the loss.

With the win, XU snapped a 14-game road losing streak. XU's last road win was a 3-2 win at St. Bonaventure on October 23, 2005.

Xavier hits the road again next weekend with matches at Pittsburgh on Friday and next Sunday at West Virginia.
