Musketeers and Purple Aces Settle for 1-1 Draw in Evansville
The Xavier women's soccer team settled for its first tie of the season, a 1-1 draw at Evansville Saturday afternoon. Junior Mariah Whitaker scored the Musketeers' lone goal of the day, assisted by senior Brooke Eberly.

The Musketeers, 2-0, are off to their best start since beginning the 1997 season at 5-0.

Xavier opened the season in impressive fashion by capturing the championship of the Boilermaker Challenge Cup in West Lafayette, Ind. XU defeated North Dakota in its first match 3-0 on August 23 and jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and went on to defeat host Purdue 4-3 in the championship match on August 25. The Musketeers have not played a match since August 25.

Freshman forward Tori Doss was named BIG EAST Conference Rookie of the Week by the league office and BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week by collegesportsmadness.com after scoring three goals and an assist in XU’s two wins to open the season.
