CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's soccer team is hitting the road again on Sunday afternoon, heading to Indianapolis to square off against IUPUI at 1 p.m. at the Jaguars' Carroll Stadium. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
About the Musketeers Xavier (1-3-0, 0-0-0 A-10) has dropped two straight contests away from home and is preparing for its fourth road opponent out of its first five contests. The Musketeers are led offensively by juniors Sydnee Fields, Ashton Green and Mariah Whitaker with one goal apiece. Sophomore Katie Markesbery has been a fixture for XU between the posts and has tallied 24 saves in 373:11 minutes of action.
Scouting IUPUI IUPUI (1-4-0, 0-0-0 Summit) is coming off its first win off the season at Ball State on Friday, a 1-0 victory with the game-winning goal scored in the 82’ by Mackenzie Calvert. In addition to Calvert, Ashley Doreski and Kristin Price have each scored one goal for the Jaguars. Giselle Guzman is the regular keeper for IUPUI having logged 372:44 minutes over five games played with a 2.41 GAA.
Last Time Out The Musketeers went 0-2 at the 2012 Ball State Tournament last weekend in Muncie, Ind., including a 2-1 double-overtime loss to the host Cardinals on Sunday. Junior Ashton Green scored XU’s lone goal in the 59’ off her left foot from 15 feet out. BSU was able to score the equalizer in the 79’ and the game-winner with 2:19 left in the second extra period.
