Xavier Women's Soccer Coach Signs 11 For Next Season

CINCINNATI - Xavier University head women's soccer coach Alvin Alexander announced an 11-member recruiting class. Alexander, who just completed his second season at XU, is excited about the new additions for the 2007 Fall season.

"This is a highly-talented class of players," said Alexander, "that gives us a tremendous boost on the offensive and defensive side of the field."

Lindsey Bartkowski, a 5-9 midfielder from Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio, is the most decorated of the incoming freshmen. Bartkowski, a member of the national Scholar All-America Team in 2006, earned NSCAA All-Region honors and OSSCA Second Team All-State honors in each of her last three years. She earned First Team All-North Coast League honors and Akron Beacon Journal High School All-Star honors four years in a row. She earned a spot on the Cleveland Plain Dealer All-Star team as a senior.

Rian Beckham, a 5-5 defender from Cincinnati's Mount Notre Dame High School, earned the Coaches Award as a senior while helped her team finish runner-up in the Girls Greater Catholic League.

Elizabeth "Lizzy" Gerard, a 5-5 midfielder from St. Joseph's High School in South Bend, Ind., was a four-year varsity standout. Gerard earned All-District and All-Northern Indiana Conference in each of her final three seasons, while adding All-State honors her senior season.

Anne Higgins, a 5-4 midfielder from Cincinnati's Ursuline Academy, scored 24 goals in her three seasons on the varsity. She earned First Team All-Girls Greater Catholic League honors this past Fall, while also earning the GGCL Scholar-Athlete Award.

Rachel Mason, a 5-8 midfielder from Divine Child High School in Dearborn, Mich., was a four-year prep star in soccer and cross country. Mason, a two-time team captain, earned All-Area, All-District and All-Catholic honors in soccer, while leading her team to the 2004 District Championship and runner-up finishes in 2005 and 2006.

Kaitlyn McGoldrick, 5-3 forward/midfielder from St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, Ohio, was a three-time First Team All-Central Catholic League selection who earned All-District honors in each of her final two years, including first team as a senior. McGoldrick led her team to three straight CCL Championships and was her school's 2007 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Mary Beth Monaghan, a 5-6 forward from St. Ursula Academy in Toledo, Ohio, helped her squad win league and district championships all four years and a regional championship her junior year.

Jenny Rosen, a 5-8 goalkeeper from Badin High School in Hamilton, Ohio, earned Cincinnati Enquirer First Team All-City honors as a senior. She was named Second Team All-Girls Greater Catholic League as a junior and a senior.

Aliya Shull, a 5-6 midfielder/defender from Lexington High School in Lexington, Ohio, scored 13 goals and added seven assists in two seasons on the varsity. She earned First Team All-Conference and First Team All-District honors as a senior, while leading her team to a 13-2 record and a conference title.

Carlyanne Wenzel, a 5-8 forward from Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Ind., scored 30 goals and dished off 28 assists in her four-year career, including her freshman year at Carmel High School. Wenzel was named All-City three times and All-North twice, while helping lead her team to back-to-back city championships as a junior and a senior and a sectional championship his senior year.

Donielle White, a 5-7 defender/midfielder from Cincinnati's Winton Woods High School, earned Second Team All-Fort Ancient Valley Conference and Academic All-FAVC honors as a senior. In fact she earned a spot on the FAVC All-Academic Team three times in four years. She earned Cincinnati Enquirer honorable mention All-City honors as a junior and All-City Honor Roll status as a senior.
