CINCINNATI-- Xavier fans will get an early preview of the 2012 XU women's soccer team as the Musketeers kick off a five-game spring season that includes two home games.
"We are excited to begin preparations for a competitive spring season," said Xavier head coach and former Musketeer Woody Sherwood. "The spring will give us a great opportunity to continue the development needed to get back to the top of the Atlantic 10. All five opponents will present some great challenges for us. Coming off the best defensive season in the history of the program, we are going to continue to work on that while knowing me must create more goals in order to turn some of those one-goal losses into wins."
Xavier opens the spring season with an all-day seven-on-seven exhibition at Indiana Saturday, February 25. The Musketeers return to the Hoosier State on Saturday, March 17 to face Indiana State at 1:30 p.m.
Xavier will play the first of two home spring matches against local rival and Division I newcomer Northern Kentucky Wednesday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the XU Soccer Complex. XU will travel to Wright State on Saturday, March 31 for a 1 p.m. battle before returning home to compete against Kent State in the spring finale Saturday, April 14.
