PHILADELPHIA -

The Xavier University Musketeer women's soccer team ended the 2007 season with a 3-1 loss to the La Salle Explorers on a sunny but windy and chilly afternoon at La Salle University on Sunday.

La Salle struck first in the match as sophomore Traci DePasquale scored the first of her two goals on the day just 13:43 into the first half.

Xavier would answer the Explorer goal in the 42nd minute. Freshman Kaitlyn McGoldrick took a pass from junior Melissa Zimmerman in stride and broke free to the right side of the box and drilled a shot past the La Salle goalkeeper at 41:24. It marked McGoldrick's third goal of the season and Zimmerman's second assist of the season.

The two teams went to intermission tied at 1-1.

La Salle grabbed the lead back in the 59th minute as DePasquale scored again, this time on a header from the left side in front of the goal. The Explorers led 2-1 at 58:10.

The Explorers got an insurance goal in the 65th minute as Kristin Hextall found the back of the net for her team-high 13th goal of the season.

Xavier finishes the season with a 3-7-1 record in the Atlantic 10 Conference and 4-14-1 overall, while La Salle goes to 4-5 in the Atlantic 10 and 10-8 overall.
