CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to the visiting Duquesne Dukes Friday night at the Xavier Soccer Complex. This weekend the Musketeers are sporting pink jerseys to support breast cancer awareness.

With the loss the Musketeers fall to 6-9-1 on the season and 1-5 in Atlantic 10 play while the Dukes improve to 6-8-2 overall and 2-3-1 in conference action.

Junior Mariah Whitaker led Xavier offensively with four shots in the contest, all of which were on goal. Senior Taylor Dearbaugh and freshman Catherine Allon each recorded three shots on the night for the Musketeers as well.

On the night, Duquesne out-shot Xavier by an 18-13 margin and took nine corner kicks to XU's three. The foul count was nearly even with DU committing five miscues to Xavier's four.

The Dukes got on the board first in the 62nd minute after Caroline Lacy corralled a deflected shot and send the ball sailing just over the tip of sophomore Katie Markesbery's outstretched hand. Lacy's goal proved to be the game-winner for DU. Amy Vinopal scored an insurance goal for Duquesne on the 85th minute after a collision with a defender left Markesbery on the ground and the net empty.

Markesbery (6-9-1) was charged with the loss after giving up two goals. She tallied three saves in 90 minutes of action for the Musketeers.

Devon Tabata (6-5-1) got the result for the Dukes, collecting 10 saves to zero goals against in the shutout win.

The Musketeers return to action Sunday afternoon as they play host to St. Bonaventure. The A-10 match-up is set to kickoff at 1:00 p.m. and be sure to #WearPink.
