CINCINNATI -

The Xavier Musketeer women's soccer team battled Atlantic 10 Conference leading Charlotte to a draw for almost 75 minutes but two late goals gave the 49ers a 3-1 victory on Friday night at Xavier. Xavier will host Saint Louis on Sunday at 1 p.m. with "Senior Day" festivities for six Musketeers before the match.

Charlotte struck first tonight just 12:51 into the match as Danielle Mayeaux scored on a header off a corner kick.

Xavier answered the 49er goal at 30:02 as Carissa Gilbert served up a perfect pass on a corner kick to the right side of the box where Allison Osborne finished it off with a header into the upper right corner of the goal. The two teams would go to intermission deadlocked at 1-1.

The score remained 1-1 until the 75th minute. That's when Charlotte's Rachel Baer scored the first of her two goals at 74:11, placing the ball just inside the right corner of the goal. Baer scored again less than five minutes later at 79:08, stealing the ball from the Xavier defense and putting the ball past XU goalkeeper Kelly Farrell.

Xavier lost its fourth straight match and fell to 2-5-1 in the Atlantic 10 and 3-12-1 overall. Charlotte extended its streak to 10 straight matches without a loss, going to 6-0-1 in the Atlantic 10 and 11-3-1 overall.

Xavier will honor six seniors prior to Sunday's match against Saint Louis: Shannon Chambers,  Jillian Chuck, Anne Finnerty, Carissa Gilbert, Karin Martini and Allison Osborne.
