CINCINNATI -- It was a tough night for the Xavier women's soccer team as the Musketeers dropped a 3-0 decision to Massachusetts Friday night at the Xavier Soccer Complex. With the loss, the Musketeers fell to 5-7-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the Atlantic 10 while the Minutewomen improved to 5-7-0 and 2-1-0 in the A-10.
UMass got on the board early and never looked back. Sydney Stoll nailed the first of two goals on the night in the sixth minute when she finished a pass right in front of the XU goal.
The Minutewomen struck again in the 17th minute with a strike off a corner kick from Therese Smith. Stoll struck again in the 68th minute with a shot that got past XU senior goalkeeper Jenny Rosen.
UMass won the shots battle 13-5. Xavier starting goalkeeper Jennifer Perri earned three saves in the first half while Rosen pulled down four in the second frame.
Xavier will look to even its Atlantic 10 record Sunday as it hosts Rhode Island at 1 p.m.
