Women's Soccer Comes Up Short Against Miami (Ohio)
Sept. 23, 2007 CINCINNATI -- - The Xavier women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Miami (Ohio) on Sunday afternoon at the Xavier University Soccer Complex. Miami broke a scoreless tie at the 39:18 mark of the first half as Jackie Hardek caught a break on a deflection off the crossbar and the XU defense. It proved to be all the offense the visitors needed. Xavier failed to score despite a 25-9 advantage in shots, including a complete domination in the second half that included several dangerous chances. One XU shot hit the crossbar. XU held a 14-4 shot advantage in the second half. The loss for the Musketeers was their first at home in 12 matches. Xavier had compiled a 9-0-2 mark over its previous 11 home matches. XU, which was playing its home opener today, had not lost at home since a loss to Charlotte on October 14, 2005. Xavier falls to 1-8-0 with the loss, while Miami goes to 2-3-2 with the win. Miami goalkeeper Krista Pace had eight saves in recording the shutout. The Musketeers play on the road on Friday in Atlantic 10 Conference action at George Washington.
