The Xavier University women's soccer team lost 5-1 at No. 14 West Virginia on Sunday.  Xavier now must turn its attention to the Atlantic 10 Conference season, which begins on Friday at Dayton.


XU fell to 1-6 with the loss, while WVU raised its record to 4-2.




The nationally-ranked Mountaineers struck first just 13:17 into the match as Ashley Banks found the net off an assist from Deana Everrett. WVU got its second goal to go up 2-0 courtesy a penalty kick following an XU hand ball inside the box. The home team led 3-0 at the half after punching another one in at 43:48.


The Musketeers trailed 5-0 before finally breaking through offensively. Freshman Kaitlyn McGoldrick scored from 16 yards out at 89:25.
