Women's Soccer Team Stays Unbeaten At Home

CINCINNATI - The Xavier University Musketeers got a pair of goals and an assist from senior Amber Silvis in rolling to a victory over the visiting Morehead State University Eagles on Friday night at the Xavier University Soccer Complex. The win extended Xavier's home winning streak to five matches, a streak that dates back to last season. XU has outscored its three home opponents this season 8-0 in recording a perfect 3-0 mark.
Xavier struck first tonight just 6:08 into the first half as Silvis punched the ball past the MSU goalkeeper from inside the box. Senior Angie Scarlato and junior Karin Martini set up the score and were both credited with assists.
The Musketeers struck again at 42:27 when freshman Brittany Green collected a rebounded shot off the MSU keeper and drilled it into the back of the net. Silvis and Scarlato earned assists on the play.
Xavier took its 2-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Musketeers got a big insurance goal early in the second half as Silvis found the back of the net again at 53:02, hitting the ball just over the outstretched MSU goalkeeper. This time she got help on the assist from junior Allison Osborne.
The win raised Xavier's record to 3-4, while MSU fell to 2-5 with the loss. The Musketeers will try to even their record at 4-4 on Sunday when they visit Ball State for a 1 p.m. afternoon match.
