
Scarlato Plays The Role Of Hero As Xavier Women's Soccer Team Wins On The Road

MOREHEAD, KY --- The Xavier University women's soccer team pulled out a 1-0 victory at Morehead State on Sunday afternoon. The win evened Xavier's record at 2-2, while Morehead State fell to 2-2. Senior Angie Scarlato broke a scoreless tie with just 1:05 left in regulation, drilling a shot from 20 yards out and over the Morehead goalkeeper. Freshman Maggie O'Neal crossed the ball to Scarlato for the game-winner and was credited with the assist. Xavier freshman goalkeeper Lindsey Cullins recorded four saves and was credited with her first career shutout. The Musketeers dominated the statistics, taking a 23-9 advantage in shots, including 11-3 in the second half. Xavier, which was playing the second of four straight road games, hits the road again next weekend for the Indiana Hoosier Classic in Bloomington. XU plays Marquette on Friday, September 9, and Indiana on Sunday, September 11, in the four-team event. XU's next home match is September 18 against Louisville.
