Ty Smith is entering his third season as an Assistant Coach at Xavier. Smith has been instrumental in Xavier's game day and training preparation. Smith oversees scouting and video editing as well as being a key recruiter for the Musketeers.

Outside of his duties at Xavier, Smith is active with youth soccer club Kings Hammer Academy. Smith led the 1995 Girls to a Midwest Regional League Championship, US Youth Soccer National League promotion, as well as State Finalist finishes in both Kentucky and Ohio. He was instrumental in developing a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year for Kentucky as well as two NSCAA All-Region players.

Prior to coming to Xavier, Smith served as the Director of Soccer Operations at Miami University (OH), where he helped guide the RedHawks to the NCAA's seventh-highest scoring offense and a Mid-American Conference East Division title.

Smith, 26, also had a stint as an Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Hanover College, where he coordinated recruiting and training. Five of Smith's recruits earned All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors. Smith helped Hanover to its first ever HCAC Championship match.

As a standout multi-sport athlete at Hanover College, he lettered in both Men's Soccer and Track and Field. In his lone season at Hanover, Smith was named captain and led the team in assists. Smith also played soccer at Thomas More College for three seasons. At Thomas More, Smith was named All-President's Athletic Conference, Team MVP, and an Athletic Director Honor Roll award winner. Smith led the team in goals in 2006, assists in 2005, and helped the team to its first ever conference tournament appearance and championship game. He was also the soccer representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Smith earned his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and English from Hanover College in May 2010. In July of 2012, he completed his Masters of Physical Education in Coaching from Ball State University. Smith also holds the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Level I, II, and III Goalkeeping Diplomas. Smith was born February 20, 1987 in North Vernon, Indiana.
