Ty Smith is entering his second season as an assistant coach with the Xavier women's soccer team. Outside of his duties at XU Smith serves as an instructor at the Cincinnati Kings Soccer Academy.

Prior to coming to XU, Smith served as the director of soccer operations at Miami (Ohio), where he helped guide the RedHawks to a Mid-American Conference East Division title.

Smith was also a trainer for Acceleration Indiana, and an assistant coach at Hanover College where he coordinated recruiting and daily training and operations. He helped guide Hanover to a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference second place finish. Smith also founded and directed the Southside Soccer Academy in Columbus, Ind.

As a standout multi-sport athlete at Hanover College he lettered in both men's soccer, where he as named captain and led the team in assists, and track and field. Smith also played men's soccer for Thomas More for three seasons before transferring to Hanover. At Thomas More, Smith was named All Presidents Athletic Conference MVP, and earned an Athletic Director's Honor Roll nod. He also served as soccer representative for Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He Thomas More in goals in 2006 and helped lead the team to its first ever conference tournament appearance and a second place finish in the President Athletic Conference.

He holds a bachelor's in education from Hanover, and a master's of physical education from Ball State University. He also holds a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and NSCAA Level I and II Goalkeeping Diplomas
