Kristen Bowman is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Xavier University women's soccer team.
Bowman, who was the girls' varsity assistant coach at Lebanon High School for seven years (2007-13), was named Division I Assistant Coach of the Year for the State of Ohio by the coaches association following the 2013 season. Lebanon High won six league titles in her seven seasons on staff. Bowman also coached for Beechmont Soccer Club as well as Warren County Soccer Club.
Bowman, a 2002 Amelia High School graduate who local soccer fans may remember by her maiden name Votapek, went on to star at Mount Vernon Nazarene University for two seasons, scoring 58 goals and 18 assists in two seasons while leading MVNU to the NCCAA national championship her sophomore season. That year she earned NCCAA and NAIA All-American and American Mideast Conference South Division Player of the Year honors.
Bowman transferred to Northern Kentucky University for her final two seasons, earning NCAA D2 All-American and GLVC Player of the Year her senior season and finishing her career second all-time in school history in points per game, goals per game and assists per game. In addition to her standout collegiate career, Bowman played a season of semi-professional soccer for Hampton Roads Piranhas and Cincinnati Lady Hawks.
Bowman graduated from NKU in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education. She earned her master's degree in education curriculum and design from California Coast in 2010. She resides in Lebanon, Ohio, with husband Kevin, children Natalie & J.T.
