CINCINNATI - Xavier University head women’s golf coach Tom Elfers has announced the addition of three student-athletes. Lindsey Murray from Tippacanoe High School in Tipp City, Ohio, Hanna Lee from Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and Nina Kulkarni from Centerville High School in Centerville, Ohio will join the Musketeer program for the 2014-15 academic year.
“I am pleased Lindsey, Hanna and Nina have committed to play for Xavier,” said Elfers. “They all bring excellent athletic and academic abilities to our family at Xavier. We are very excited to welcome them to our team in 2014.”
Murray qualified for and played in the U.S. Junior Girls Association (USGA) two different times. She has won over fifty junior tournaments, including Pepsi Little Peoples in Illinois, Scott Roberson in Virginia and the Junior All-Star at Disney in Florida. Murray was fully exempt in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) at the age of 14. She represented the USA twice in the World Youth team challenge and was one of six Ohio girls chosen to represent Ohio in the Bi-State challenge against Pennsylvania. A three-time Player of the Year in the Central Buckeye Conference, she had a scoring average of 35.5 for nine holes her senior year, had a double eagle and hole-in-one her freshman year in a nine hole match, was medalist 23 times in high school tournaments and qualified for state three times. A two-time All-Ohio honoree, Murray was Runner-Up in the Division II Ohio state tournament in 2013.
Lee helped lead her team to a Greater Miami Conference Championship. She won the Ohio state Division 1 regional tournament with medalist score of 70 and went on to finish fourth in the 2013 Division 1 Ohio state championship. Lee was invited to play in numerous AJGA events and has six AJGA top ten finishes, which include a fourth place finish at the AJGA Aspen Junior, sixth place finish at the AJGA Philadelphia Junior and a ninth place finish at the AJGA Under Armour Hunter Mahan Championship. She turned in a 1-over par (217) at the Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle Championship, won the Cincinnati Metropolitan Junior Girls’ Championship and the Callaway Junior World Championship qualifying tournament, finished third at the PGA Junior Series Tournament at Westbrook Country Club and took second at the PGA Junior Series Tournament at Penn State Country Club.
Kulkarni leadership played a key role as her team qualified for the state tournament in 2012. She won the District Tournament in 2013 to qualify, individually, for the Division 1 Ohio state championship. Kulkarni earned first team honors in her division all four years, as well as first team All-GWOC for four years. The first and only four-time Greater Western Ohio Conference Player of the Year in GWOC history, Kulkarni was also a four-time SW district first team selection. As a junior, she qualified for the Callaway Junior World Championship. She has competed in many events in the Southern Ohio PGA junior tour, where she’s received one Player of the Year award and participated in tournaments such as the GolfWeek Junior, Plantation Junior and the AJGA.
The Blue and White will return to the course when they open the spring campaign with a trip to Amelia Island, Fla. to compete at the Amelia Island Collegiate from Feb. 17-18.
