Women's Golf Welcomes a New Signee

CINCINNATI- Women’s golf head coach Tom Elfers welcomes Abby Smith to the 2011-2012 Xavier women’s golf team. Coach Elfers said, ”I am really happy about Abby’s decision to join our team. She will be a great addition to our team.” Abby Smith will join the eight other golfers already on the squad.
Abby Smith, a Frankfort, Ky. native, is a four-year varsity letter recipient, as well as the captain of the Franklin County High School women’s golf team in 2010. Smith led her team to four consecutive Kentucky High School Golf State Tournaments posting a 15th place finish her freshman year, as well as a fifth place finish this year. Over the course of Smith’s high school career she has two top-three regional finishes and a second place finish this year. She also has been awarded the most outstanding golfer for the years 2008-2010, as well as the Kentucky All-State Team for 2010.
Additionally, Abby Smith competed in the Plantations Junior Golf Tour and she was awarded the Bettinardi number one rated player, as well as the Plantations Ogio Player of the Year in 2009-2010. Smith also qualified for the Calloway Junior World Championship held in San Diego, Calif. and finished in the top-40 in July 2010.
