Women's Golf to Host Xavier LPGA International

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Xavier women's golf team is set to host the Xavier LPGA International at the Legends course at the LPGA International Golf Course. The 13-team field got its practice rounds in Thursday in preparation for the three-day tournament.
The Musketeers are coming off of the Cardinal Cup where junior Breanna Patz finished 36th with an 11-over-par 155. Freshman Abby Smith will be competing in her first collegiate competition, as all seven players made the trip to Florida.
Last season Xavier finished third at this event behind champion Daytona State and Montana. Audrey Fellmeth led the Musketeers, with a fifth place finish. Christine Cash led the tournament in par-3 scoring and ended in 11th place. Rachel Levi earned 15th place while Kristin Tan rounded out the scoring in 28th place.
Teams competing in the event are: Campbell, Daytona State College, Florida Atlantic, Jacksonville, Lamar, Mercer, McNeese State, Samford, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Louisiana Monroe and Stetson. The Musketeers are ranked 124 in the latest GolfStat poll and 126 in Golfweek.
The highest ranked team coming into the tournament is Samford, who is 58th in Golfweek and 67th in GolfStat. Lamar is also in the top-100, ranked 96th in GolfStat and 97th in Golfweek.
Individually, Louisiana Monroe freshman Jennifer Park in the highest-ranked golfer, earning a 65th ranking in GolfStat. Mercer sophomore Mary Alice Murphy is 50th while Jacksonville freshman Natalie Schmett is 89th.
