Xavier Women's Golf Places Eighth at Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio --- The Xavier University women's golf team finished eighth out of nine teams at the Lady Falcon Invitational in Bowling Green, Ohio, this past weekend. Toledo edged out Western Michigan while host Bowling Green State finished third.
Freshman Abby Fowler (South Medford, Ore./South Medford) had another impressive outing, carding a 159 (82 - 77) to finish 14th individually. Freshman Emily Shoplik (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel Area) shot an 84 in both rounds to finish with a 168 and place 35th. Senior Kim Farrell (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) and sophomore Jill Stein (Sussex, Wisc./Hartland Arrowhead) both improved on their first rounds carding a 174 (90 - 84) and a 176 (89 - 87) respectively. Freshman Sarah Sparks (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) shot a 192 (96 - 96) for Xavier. Erica Bienick of Western Michigan was the medalist of the tournament, finishing just four strokes over par with a 148 (71 - 77). The Musketeers will compete in the Notre Dame Invitational next weekend in South Bend, Ind.
