Women's Golf Readies For Yale Intercollegiate

CINCINNATI - Head Coach Tom Elfers and the Xavier women’s golf team are set to participate in their second event of the 2013-14 season at the Yale Intercollegiate beginning on Friday, Sept. 20 and ending on Sunday, Sept. 22.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on the par-71, 6,100-yard Yale Golf Course. Along with the Musketeers, golfers from Yale, Seton Hall, Lehigh, Dartmouth, Rutgers, Boston Univ., Penn, Sacred Heart, Charleston Southern, CCSU, Quinnipiac, IUPUI, Bucknell, Longwood and LIU will participate in the event.
Xavier will send seven golfers, led by seniors Ariel McNair (Aurora, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) and Christine Cash (Paducah, Ky./Heath High School), to the tournament. Junior Abby Smith (Frankfort, Ky./Franklin County High School), sophomore Shane Crutchfield (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg) and freshman Grace Howie (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/The Edge School) round out the XU lineup, while senior Kristin Tan (Seattle, Wash./Holy Names Academy) and freshman Rachel Johnson (Nashville, Tenn./Franklin Road Academy) will compete as individuals.
This tournament is the second leg of a five-event fall slate for the Musketeers. After this weekend, Xavier will host the LPGA Xavier Invitational Oct. 5-7 in Daytona Beach, Fla. before heading to Hickory, Ind. for the Indiana Invitational Oct. 19-20.
The final event of the fall is the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate, Oct. 27-29.
