NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. --- The Xavier women’s golf team finished 12th out of 36 teams in the rain shortened Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic with a two-round total of 631.
Freshman Kara Manis led the Musketeers as she followed up an opening round 75 with a 79 on Sunday to tie for 22nd overall with a score of 154.
Junior Abby Fowler shot a pair of 79s to total 158 and tie for 48th. XU’s other freshman, Kathleen Hardy, shot an 81 and an 80 for a two-round total of 161.
Juniors Emily Shoplik and Sarah Sparks rounded out the Xavier scoring with totals of 162 and 171 respectively.
As a team, the Musketeers shot a 318 on Sunday, coupled with a 313 on Friday for the 631 team score.
The tournament was originally scheduled to be three rounds, but torrential rains from Tropical Depression Henri halted play on Saturday and forced the tournament to be cut to two rounds.
The Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic is billed as the largest women’s collegiate golf tournament in the world with its 36-team field.
The Musketeer women’s golf team is idle until playing in the Notre Dame Invitational on September 27 and 28.
