CINCINNATI - Xavier women's golf head coach Tom Elfers was inducted into the Ohio Golf Hall of Fame in Sandusky, Ohio, on August 6. Elfers was one of three inductees in the class of 2012 and joins 79 members of the hall.

Elfers is entering his seventh season as head coach of the Xavier women's golf team and his 10th overall at XU. Prior to coming to Xavier, Elfers played on the Champions Tour, qualifying for six tour events and he advanced to the final stage of Tour qualifying in 2003.

He is a three-time Cincinnati Met Champion and has won both the Toledo District Medal and Toledo District Match Play Championships in addition to qualifying for seven U.S. Amateur Championships.

The 1972 graduate of Ohio State earned three varsity letters as a member of the Buckeyes men's golf team. He spent nearly 30 years teaching math and coaching both golf and basketball at five Cincinnati-area high schools.

Joining Elfers in the 2012 class were Roger T. McManus (posthumous) and Donald Clark Perne'. Members of the hall include Bob Hope, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.
