Manis, McKenna Earn Accolades from CAA
April 24, 2007
Kara Manis led the Musketeers this season in scoring average (77.41), lowest round (one-under par 70, the only under par round of the season for XU), lowest total tournament score (221, +8), tied McKenna with 3 top-ten finishes and led with seven top-20 finishes. She led Xavier in five of the eleven tournaments, including a top-ten finish at the The Bronco Fall Invitational was Kara Manis' best performance, recording her low tournament score for the season which led to a season-best fifth place finish overall. Manis' leadership and production will be missed next season, along with fellow senior Kathleen Hardy. Mary Beth McKenna kept pace with Manis all season, proving herself season-long to be a top Xavier golfer. McKenna was second this season in team-leading tournament scores with three, and was a close second to Manis on three other occasions, trading positions back and forth. Only Diana Torry's early-season streak of top team finishes and Kathleen Hardy's return broke that trend. Manis, McKenna, and Torry were the only three team members to play all eleven tournaments. McKenna was second on the team in scoring average (78.52, minimum five total events), tied for the second-lowest round of the season (her one-over round at the Bronco Fall Invitational ties with Torry's one-over round a week later at the Lady Aztec), had the second best tournament score (223, +10 at the Bronco Invite), and tied Manis with three top-ten finishes and was second on the team with five top-20 finishes. Congratulations to Kara Manis and Mary Beth McKenna for their well deserved awards. 2007
