Musketeers Fourth After One Round of Play
The women’s golf team stands fourth out of fifteen teams after the first round of the Eastern Kentucky Colonel Classic in Richmond, Ky. The team shot a combined 316, just six strokes behind leader Austin Peay State.
Sophomore Jill Stein (Sussex, Wisc./Hartland Arrowhead) shot an even 36 on the front nine and finished with a 2-over 74 (36-38), placing her second, two strokes behind current leader Samantha Fox of APSU.
Freshman Abby Fowler (Medford, Ore./South Medford) is tied for eighth overall after shooting a 77 (37-40). Junior Beth Hamilton (Norman, Okla./Lakota East [Ohio]) also performed well, carding a 79 (42-37), tying her for 15th overall.
Senior Kim Farrell (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) bounced back well on the back nine, finishing with an 86 (47-39). Sophomore Sara MacDonald (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) rounded out the scoring with a 90 (46-44).
The team resumes play Friday at 9 a.m. in a shotgun start and finishes the third and final round Saturday at 9 a.m.
