AVON, Ind. - The Xavier women's golf team competed with four individuals Monday and Tuesday at the Butler Spring Invitational on the 6,290 yard Prestwick Country Club.  Freshman Lindsay Steiner led the Musketeers with an impressive third place finish at 14-over par.

Steiner's performance was highlighted by her second-round 76, which was not only the low round for the day but also the low round for the tournament.  Steiner finished only two strokes off first place, held by Kristy O'Connor and Sarah Windlan of Ball State.

Freshman Tracey Clarke tied at 11th for the Musketeers.  Her final-round 79 landed her at +19 for the tournament.  A stroke back from her was junior Erin Gore, finishing at +20 for the tournament in a tie for 14th.  Sophomore Colette Ryan, in her first tournament appearance of the season, rounded out the Musketeer lineup, finishing 55th.

The second round marked a drastic improvement in XU's standings, as Steiner shaved six strokes from her first day total, Clarke five strokes, and Gore eight strokes.

This weekend Xavier continues their spring schedule at the William & Mary Invitational in Williamsburg, Va.  Unfortunately the Musketeers will be without sophomore Lindsay Cornell, as she continues to be plagued by injury troubles.
