Xavier Women’s Golf Opens Spring Season at Miccosukee Championship

Miami, Fla. – The Xavier University women’s golf team shot a first round 329 and a second round of 325 on the opening day of the 2005 Miccosukee Women’s Golf Championship hosted by Florida International University at the par-73 Miccosukee Country Club. XU sits in 13th place with a combined two-round total of 654 (+70) while Colorado leads the 18-team field as the Buffaloes carded a 616 (+32) on day one.
Sophomore Kara Manis turned in the low round of the day for the Musketeers with a first round 74 and followed that up with an 82 in the second round, which puts Manis in a tie for 17th after 36 holes. Freshman Diana Torry fired an opening round of 86, but cut her total by eight strokes in round two for a total of 164 on the day.
Sarah Sparks carded an 87 in the first round and followed that up with a second round of 81. Kathleen Hardy fired two rounds of 84 on day one and senior Abby Fowler carded two rounds of 85 on the 5,919-yard Miccosukee Country Club.
The Musketeers will return to the course on Tuesday, Feb. 22, for the third and final round of the 2005 Miccosukee Women’s Golf Championship.
