MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Sophomore Kristin Tan finished a career-high second place in the 2011 Memphis Women's Fall Invitational today at the Ridgeway Country Club. Tan shot a 74-73-76=223 (+10) at the par 71 6,150 yard course. As a team, the Musketeers finished in fifth place out of 13 teams shooting a 308-314-307=929 (+77).
Tan's second round 73 is a new career-low. Sophomore Christine Cash was consistent all tournament as she posted 77-77-77=231 (+18) and finished tied for 15th. Cash had only one top-20 finish all of last year, and today was her third of the season. Senior Michelle Winkler posted an 81-80-75=236 (+23) and finished tied for 27th in the field of 68 competitors. Winkler's final round of 75 is her lowest score so far this season.
Junior Breanna Patz finished tied for 35th with a 26-over-par 239. Fellow classmate Alexandra Lake tallied an 82-87-86=255 (+42). Sophomore Ariel McNair competed as an individual and performed very well, shooting an 81-80-74=235 (+22) and finished tied for 23rd. Freshman Abby Smith also participated as an individual and posted an 86-83-81=250 (+37). Smith's third round score of 81 is a career-low.
Samford and Memphis tied for first with a 61-over-par 913. Marissa Sheen was the medalist of the tournament as she shot a two-over par 215 (71-75-69).
The Musketeers return to action November 7-8 for the Challenge at Onion Creek in Austin, Texas.
