Final Results

GREENVILLE, N.C. – After a difficult first round of play, the Xavier women’s golf team, led by Mary Beth McKenna’s top-20 finish, shaved 15 strokes off their first round total to earn a 16th place finish at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate.  The tournament was played at the par-71, 5,939-yard Greenville Country Club.

McKenna was the Musketeer leader for the first and third rounds, recording scores of 77-77-75 to finish tied for 19th at 229 (+16).  She finished tied for third in par-five scoring at two-under and fifth in total pars with 34.  The top-20 finish is her second of the season, including her ninth-place performance at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate.

Sophomore Rachel Levi was the second-best Xavier finisher, firing rounds of 78-76-79 to finish tied for 35th at 233 (+20).  Levi clearly maintained the momentum from her Xavier-best 75 at the LPGA International on October 12.

Senior Lindsay Cornell and freshman Michelle Winkler both tied for 67th.  Cornell went 82-78-81 and Winkler 85-76-80, dropping nine strokes from her first day total to help lead the Musketeers in the second round.

Sophomore Audrey Fellmeth may have broken through in the final round, posting an 81 that helped bring her score to 44-over (257) and 92nd place.

As the calendar turns for November, the Musketeers will play their final tournament of the fall season at the Cal Poly Women’s Invitational in Arroyo Grande, Calif. from November 3-4.
