Women's Golf Finishes Ninth At Hoosier Fall Invitational

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Sophomore Shane Crutchfield (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg) finished tied for fourth place overall (72-71-73/216) as the Xavier women’s golf team recorded a team score of 899 (301-295-303) to take ninth place at the 2013 Hoosier Fall Invitational.
Betty Chen of UC Davis carded a three-round score of 210 to take the individual title. UC Davis won the team title (296-288-284/868), while Illinois (298-286-300/884) and Louisville (303-290-294/887) finished second and third, respectively.
Playing on the par-71 and 6,062 yard course at the Hickory Sticks Golf Club, senior Ariel McNair (Aurora, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) carded a third round 73 and finished tied for 20th place. Junior Abby Smith (Frankfort, Ky./Franklin County High School) turned in a 6-over 77 to finished with a three round score of 228, good for a share of 36th place.
Freshman Grace Howie (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/The Edge School) and senior Christine Cash (Paducah, Ky./Heath High School) rounded out the Musketeers scoring. Cash and Howie tallied scores of 80 and 83 in the final round, respectively, and finished tied for 62nd place and tied for 80th place.
Competing as individuals, freshman Rachel Johnson (Nashville, Tenn./Franklin Road Academy) finished tied for 85th position, while senior Kristin Tan (Seattle, Wash./Holy Names Academy), finished the event in 89th place.
The Blue and White return to the course next week when they head to Kiawah Island, S.C. for the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate (Oct. 27-29). The Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate is the fifth and final event of the 2013 fall season for the Musketeers.
