Freshman Shane Crutchfield placed fourth overall with her 11-over-par 227 three-round total

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Xavier women's golf team improved to fourth place following the final round of the 2012 LPGA Xavier Invitational, a 54-hole event that wrapped up Sunday afternoon. Freshman Shane Crutchfieldfinished as the fourth overall individual with an 11-over 227 (72-82-73) for the weekend, including her career low round of 72 which was carded on Friday.
The Musketeers carded a 311-325-307=943 (+79), putting them in fourth place. Old Dominion claimed the LPGA Xavier Invitational title with its 312-308-304=924 (+60). The three-day event was held at the par-72, 6,178-yard Legends Course at LPGA International Golf Course.
Finishing second on the team was junior Christine Cash with a 22-over-par 238 (80-82-76), finishing in a tie for 25th place after carding her low round of the season (76) on Sunday. Senior Breanna Patz came in 29th overall, firing rounds of 80, 81 and 78 for a total of 239 (+23). Junior Ariel McNair (79-83-83) and freshman Abby Smith(85-80-80) ended up knotted at 39th, posting three-day totals of 29-over-par 245.
Playing as an individual, senior Alexandra Lakefinished in a tie for 63rd with her rounds of 89, 85 and 84 for a three-round total of 258 (+42). Her Sunday score of 84 equals her low round of the fall season.
The Musketeers return to action Oct. 22-23 when they participate in the FedEx Memphis Intercollegiate in Germantown, Tenn.
