Women's Golf Falls to Eighth After Windy Second Round of LPGA Invite

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - After a windy day on the course, the Xavier women's golf team fell back six spots to the eighth slot after round two of the 2012 LPGA Xavier Invitational. Sophomore Abby Smith carded an 80 (+8) as the team's low scorer of the day. The Musketeers' 36 hole total is 636 (311-325) and they are 18 shots off leader Florida Gulf Coast (310-308=618).

The three-day tournament, hosted by Xavier, is being played at the par-72, 6,178-yard Legends Course at LPGA International Golf Course.

Freshman Shane Crutchfield is in sixth place with a two-day total of 10-over-par 154 (72-82) and is the team leader through the first two rounds. Breanna Patz is currently tied for 28th after firing a second-round score of 81 (80=161, +17). Juniors Christine Cash (80-82) and Ariel McNair (79-83) are in a tie for 33rd with a 36-hole total of 162 (+18). Smith is tied for 43rd (85-80=165, +21) while senior Alexandra Lake, who is playing as an individual, is in 64th place (89-85=174, +30) overall.

The low round for the day was carded by first-place Florida Gulf Coast's Georgia Price. She is currently tied with Mercer's Lacey Fears for the overall lead (148, +4).

Tomorrow's final-round shotgun start will kickoff at 8 a.m.
