Women's Golf Takes Fourth Place At The LPGA Xavier Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Senior Ariel McNair (Aurora, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) finished tied for eighth place overall (74-72-78/224) as the Xavier women's golf team registered a three-day team score of 914 (304-306-304) to take fourth place at the 2013 LPGA Xavier Invite.
Bailey Gray of Samford fired a 3-under 69 to take the individual title. Mercer saved their best for last and recorded the low round of the tournament (292) on Monday to win the LPGA Xavier Invite by eight strokes. Daytona State and Morehead State, the leader heading into the third round, finished tied for second.
Playing on the par-72, 6,146-yard Legends Course, junior Abby Smith (Frankfort, Ky./Franklin County High School) carded XU's lowest round of the day (73) to take 19th place (77-80-73/230). Sophomore Shane Crutchfield (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg) turned in a 4-over 76 and finished tied for 20th place
Senior Christine Cash (Paducah, Ky./Heath High School) and freshman Grace Howie (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/The Edge School) rounded out the Musketeers scoring. Cash and Howie tallied scores of 78 and 77, respectively, and finished tied for 31st place.
Competing as individuals, freshman Rachel Johnson (Nashville, Tenn./Franklin Road Academy) finished tied for 46th position, while senior Kristin Tan (Seattle, Wash./Holy Names Academy), finished the event in 84th place.
The Blue and White return to the course on Oct. 19, when they head to Hickory, Ind. to participate in the 2013 Hoosier Fall Invite.
