Women's Golf In Third Place After Day 1 Of The LPGA Xavier Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Senior Ariel McNair (Aurora, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) shot a 2-over 74 as the Xavier women’s golf team registered a team score of 304 to sit in third place after day one of the 2013 LPGA Xavier Invite at the LPGA International Golf Course.
Lacey Fears of Mercer carded an even-par 72 and sits at the top of the individual leaderboard. Daytona State leads team scoring with a 12-over 300. Morehead State is two strokes back at 302 and the Musketeers, at 16-over, round out the top three.
Playing on the par-72, 6,146-yard Legends Course, sophomore Shane Crutchfield (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg) registered a four-over 76 and is currently tied for 14th place. Junior Abby Smith (Frankfort, Ky./Franklin County High School) and freshman Grace Howie (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/The Edge School) both carded 77s in round one and sit tied for 21st place.
Senior Christine Cash (Paducah, Ky./Heath High School) rounded out the Blue and White’s scorecard, turning in a 9-over 81 (t-54th).
Freshman Rachel Johnson (Nashville, Tenn./Franklin Road Academy) and senior Kristin Tan (Seattle, Wash./Holy Names Academy), competing as individuals, registered scores of 77 (t-21st) and 87 (82nd), respectively, in the opening 18 holes.
The second round of the LPGA Xavier Invittional begins Sunday morning.
