Women's Golf Finishes NRGC Cup in 16th

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - The Xavier Women's Golf team steadily improved their team score as the rounds went on, but could not make up enough ground to climb the standings, finishing in 16th place overall (948, +84) at the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup. The tournament was held at the 6,181-yard, par 72 Cardinal Club.
Sophomore Mary Beth McKenna and Senior Diana Torry have led the Musketeers in two straight tournaments, including season-best rounds from both on the final day of the NRGC Cup. McKenna finished in a tie for 32nd place at 13-over par while Torry climbed to 55th place at 20-over.
So-Hyun Park of Notre Dame (213, -3) led the entire tournament, winning individual honors and leading her team to the overall title.
Xavier's 310, 22-over team final round score is a season-best.
Junior Lindsay Cornell dropped to 88th place after her final round due to a knee injury, rounding out the Xavier scores with a 35-over par 251.
XU has a chance to build off their final round momentum as they return to the links just three days after the NRGC Cup. The Sea Trail Intercollegiate Golf Tournament in Myrtle Beach, N.C. begins friday the 21st.
