Women's Golf Sits Tied For Third Place After Day 2 Of The BIG EAST Championship

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Sophomore Shane Crutchfield (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg) shot a second round 76 (10th place) as the Xavier women's golf team registered a team score of 314 to sit in a tie for third place after 36 holes of the 2014 BIG EAST Championships at the LPGA International Golf Course.
XU's 314 team score is a seven-stroke improvement from their 321, recorded on day one of the event.
Harin Lee of St. John's carded a two-over 74 and remains at the top of the individual leaderboard (74-74/148), four strokes better than the four golfers tied for second place. Seton Hall leads team scoring after turning in the lowest round of the day with a 302 (314-302/616; +40). Georgetown is 13 strokes back at with a two-day total of 629 (317-312/629), while Xavier and SJU are tied for third place (635).
Junior Abby Smith (Frankfort, Ky./Franklin County High School) bounced back from an opening round 84 and shot three-over (75) on day two, moving up leaderboard into a tie for 11th place with freshman Grace Howie (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/The Edge School), who turned in a 10-over 82 on the day.
Senior Ariel McNair (Aurora, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) carded a nine-over 81 and sits in 16th place, while senior Christine Cash (Paducah, Ky./Heath High School) registered an 83 (+11), for the second consecutive day, to earn a share of 23rd place.
The third and final round of the BIG EAST Championships begins Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m.
