Smith's stellar performance helped propell XU to a second place finish.

CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Xavier women’s golf team captured a second place finish at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic with a final team score of 325-296-299=920 (+56). The Musketeers climbed the charts each day as they improved fived place from the opening round. Senior Breanna Patz was the star for the Musketeers Wednesday as she fired a season-low 72 (E).
The Musketeers have now finished in the top-5 in six tournaments and top-8 in nine tournaments. The team has also been the runner-up in four tournaments for the season.
Patz finished the tournament 83-74-72= 229 (+13) and ended in 11th place, marking her fifth top-20 finish of the season. Sophomore Abby Smith shot a team-low 81-70-75= 226 (+10) and ended the tournament tied for sixth. This was the lowest finish for Smith this season and set a new career-low in the process.
Junior Ariel McNair ended the Classic tied for 20th out of the 103 competitors with a final score of 232 (+16). Christine Cash and Shane Crutchfield each tied for 52nd place with a total score of 242 (+26).
Boise State held on to the lead the entire way posting a team score of 901 (+37), while Haley Young of the Broncos earned medalist for the tournament with a score of 214 (-2).
