Final Results

RIO VERDE, AZ - The Xavier University women's golf team opened the 2008 spring season this weekend at the Rio Verde Invitational.  The Musketeers finished 17th (953, +89) at the 6,313 yard, par-72 Rio Verde Country Club. 


Senior Diana Torry led XU individually in a tie for 38th place at a tournament featuring what she described as "hard pin placements and firm conditions."  Torry was consistent with rounds of 78, 78, and 77 to finish the tournament at 17-over par (233).


Sophomore Mary Beth McKenna, the fall season's leader, shot a final-round 81 to go with rounds of 79 and 78 to finish in a tie for 62nd at 22-over (238).


Freshmen Audrey Fellmeth and Rachel Levi were not far behind at 27 and 29 over par, respectively.  Fellmeth shot an 82 to close her tournament performance in a tie at 77th (243).  Levi tied for 81st after rounds of 82, 79, and 84, totaling 255.




Senior Erin Gore, competing in her first tournament since the Xavier Invitational, saved her best round for last, carding a final-round 81 to finish 35-over par in a tie for 96th (251).  Junior Lindsay Cornell tied for the best Xavier round of the tournament with her second-round 77, but fell on the final day to 100th place overall at 39-over (255).


The Musketeers next travel to Samford University's Invitational in Alabama during spring break from March 17-18.
