SEDONA, Ariz. - Senior Ariel McNair (Aurora, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) finished tied for second place overall (72-70/142) as the Xavier women's golf team recorded a team score of 588 (299-289) to take the team title at the 2014 Red Rocks Invitational at the Oak Creek Country Club.
Jacquie LeMarr of Northern Arizona took the individual title with a two-round score of 141 (-3). The Musketeers took the team title, while Sacramento State (301-301/602) and tournament host Northern Arizona (305-297/602) finished tied for second.
Senior Christine Cash (Paducah, Ky./Heath High School) shot rounds of 74 and 72 to finish sixth overall. Sophomore Shane Crutchfield (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg) finished tied for 7th place overall (75-73/148). Junior Abby Smith (Frankfort, Ky./Franklin County High School) and freshman Grace Howie (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/The Edge School) both finished tied for 21st. Smith shot 78 and 75, while Howie finished with rounds of 79 and 74.
Competing as individuals, freshman Rachel Johnson (Nashville, Tenn./Franklin Road Academy) senior Kristin Tan (Seattle, Wash./Holy Names Academy) finished tied for 71st (83-81/164) and tied for 92nd (86-86/172), respectively.
The Musketeers will return to the course when they travel to Rio Verde, Ariz. to compete in the Rio Verde Invite from Mar. 7-9.
