Women's Golf Finishes Tied For Eighth At JU Amelia Island Collegiate

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. – Senior Ariel McNair (Aurora, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) finished tied for 16th place overall (77-70-77/224) as the Xavier women’s golf team recorded a team score of 914 (310-299-305) to tie for eighth place at the 2014 JU Amelia Island Collegiate.
Camila Serrano of FIU and Tiffany Chan of Daytona State tied for the individual title with a three-round score of 208 (-8), but Serrano took medalist honors, making par four straight times on No. 18 in the playoff. Florida International won the team title (277-282-300/859), while Kennesaw State (290-282-299/871) and Daytona State (295-294-301/890) finished second and third, respectively.
Playing on the Par 72 - 6029 yard course, sophomore Shane Crutchfield (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg) finished tied for 27th place overall (78-76-74/228). Senior Christine Cash (Paducah, Ky./Heath High School) and freshman Grace Howie (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/The Edge School) each carded a third round 77. Cash ended the event with a 233 (78-78-77), which was good enough for 44th place, while Howie finished just behind her at 45th place with a 234 (77-80-77).
Freshman Rachel Johnson (Nashville, Tenn./Franklin Road Academy) tied for 57th place overall with a 239 (82-75-82).
Competing as an individual, senior Kristin Tan (Seattle, Wash./Holy Names Academy) finished in 77th place with a score of 254 (93-83-78).
The Musketeers will return to the course when they travel to Sedona, Ariz. to compete in the Red Rocks Invitational from Mar. 1-2.
