CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's basketball team is set to the hit the road for its first of three away games to close out 2012 Friday afternoon. XU will square off with the Indiana Hoosiers Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. at IU's Assembly Hall.

Women's Hoops Comes Back at IU; Advances to Preseason WNIT Semis
Sophomore Ta'Shia Phillips notched the 20th double-double of her career and senior guard Jerri Taylor scored a game-high 15 points to lead the No. 22 Xavier University women's basketball team past Indiana, 62-59, on Sunday afternoon in Bloomington, Ind. With the win, Xavier improves to 2-0 on the year while IU slips to 1-1.
About the Musketeers Xavier (5-5) picked up the 62-52 win over visiting UNCW Tuesday night at Cintas Center. XU had three players post double-figures scoring and only turned the ball over nine times. The Musketeers rank in the top six teams in the Atlantic 10 in several categories including: second in defensive rebounds (28.5) and defensive rebounding percentage (.725), fifth in scoring offense (65.0) and sixth in rebounding offense (40.2) and rebounding margin (+4.2).
XU is led offensively by senior Amber Gray who is averaging 11.3 ppg. (20th A-10) and shoots at a team-best .513 clip (7th A-10). Junior Shatyra Hawkes also averages double-figures scoring with 10.5 ppg. and dishes out a team-high 4.0 apg. (10th A-10) while sinking 80.8 percent of her free throw shots (8th A-10). Sophomore Lakeisha Crouch is the team's leading rebounder grabbing 7.5 boards per contest (13th A-10) while junior Ashley Wanninger is lethal from downtown averaging 2.2 3-point baskets per game (6th A-10) and a .386 3-point field goal percentage (7th A-10).
Scouting Indiana Indiana (7-4) picked up the 72-56 win over SIUE Sunday at IU's Assembly Hall, snapping a three-game losing streak for the Hoosiers. Aulani Sinclair scorched SIUE's defense for 34 points while Nicole Bell chipped in 11 points and dished out five assists. As a team, Indiana ranks fourth in the Big Ten in scoring defense (55.3) and blocked shots (4.9).
The Hoosiers are led by Sinclair who averages 18.5 ppg. (5th B1G) and Malika Taufa with 7.2 boards per contest (9th B1G). Jasmine McGhee sinks 78.8 percent of her free throws (9th B1G) and Sinclair boasts the team's best 3-point field goal percentage (.443 - 6th B1G)
The Series There have been two prior meetings between Xavier and Indiana and the series is knotted at one game apiece. The two squads last met on Nov. 16, 2008 in Bloomington. The Musketeers defeated the Hoosiers, 62-59.

Freshman Jenna Crittendon had her second-straight game with double-digit rebounds, boarding 12 missed shots for the Musketeers. Xavier out-rebounded UNCW, 53-34, and committed only nine turnovers in the win.
